Maui Jim is a luxury brand of designer sunglasses that is headquartered out of Peoria, Illinois although the name sounds more tropical in nature due to the fact the company was originally founded in Hawaii.
The brand gained popularity in 1986 when they patented the PolarizedPlus technology that allowed the lenses to block out glare without altering the natural colour of the world while wearing them. In 1994 the brand officially entered the international market and began to spread in popularity across the globe.
Each set of Maui Jim sunglasses comes with polarized lenses to help block UV rays and each line is marketed to fit into a sporty, oceanic theme.
